Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and Organised Private Sector, OPS, have already agreed on a N30,000 minimum wage per month. DAILY POST had reported that President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, in Abuja, yesterday, said that the Tripartite Committee had completed its assignment for onward submission to President Muhammadu Buhari. The Federal Ministry of Education on Wednesday said there was no plan to increase the tuition to N350, 000 per session as claimed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, noting that the establishment of an Education Bank was already in the pipeline. The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Sonny Echono, stated this in Abuja while reacting to the allegations by the ASUU, noting that the re-establishment of the Education Bank was to provide students with loans and other resources through a public-private partnership. Echono, who spoke at a World Teachers’ Day Symposium, said teachers that did not have the requisite qualifications would be flushed out of the system by 2020. Recall that it was reported on Wednesday that the ASUU Ibadan Zonal Coordinator, Dr Ade Adejumo, raised the alarm on the Federal Government’s planned increment in fees, saying the planned increment led to the collapse of the 2017/2018 renegotiation of the 2009 Federal Government/ASUU agreement. New Innovation : Atom Smasher Detects Hints of New Unstable Particle

Image
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's largest atom smasher, just discovered at least two previously unknown particles. The 17-mile (27 kilometers) underground ring near Geneva recently discovered two baryons and a hint of another particle, according to a statement from the European organization for nuclear research (CERN) which runs the LHC. Baryon are fundamental submatic particle that are each made up of three quarks. The quarks, in turn, are even smaller particles that come in different  favour : up, down, top, bottom, strange and charm. Each type of baryon has a different mix of quarks. Protons, for example, are baryons and consist of two up quarks and one down quark apiece, according to the statement. The two newly discovered particles are classified as bottom baryons.  The first, named Σb(6097)+, is made up of one bottom quark and two up quarks, while the second, named Σb(6097)-, is made up of one bottom quark and two down quarks.
