The University of Ilorin has begun the screening of 39,711 candidates for post-UTME, it has been revealed. The University of Ilorin has commenced the screening of candidates for its post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in the 2018/2019 academic session, with 39, 711 candidates taking part in the exercise, NAN reports. The institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, announced this on Monday in a statement in Ilorin. He said the exercise would involve 29,562 at the Ilorin Centre, while 10,149 would appear at the Lagos Centre. Akogun said that the screening will hold simultaneously at Ilorin and Lagos centres between Monday and Thursday, adding that candidates who might have some issues during the main exercise would have another chance on Friday. The Management of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan on Wednesday said it has picked September 14 and 15 for its 2018/2019 post-UTME screening exercise. Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Idowu Olayinka, made this disclosure via a statement issued on Wednesday, a copy which was obtained by us in Ibadan. Olayinka, in the statement, said, “This is to inform all prospective candidates for the 2018/19 admission exercise who have successfully uploaded their biodata/credentials that the post UTME screening will come up on Friday, 14 and Saturday, 15 September 2018. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) rose from its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Calabar yesterday and said it could no longer guarantee that its members would continue to work if Wole Babalakin, negotiating on the part of the Federal Government, was not sacked. Addressing journalists at the University of Calabar, ASUU President Biodun Ogunyemi said that Babalakin had become a stumbling block to peaceful negotiations and implementation of the union’s demands. Ogunyemi warned that the union might soon embark on strike if Babalakin was not replaced. “Our Union has had series of negotiation meetings but it has been a fruitless exercise. BREAKING: NECO Releases June/July 2018 SSCE Results

The National Examinations Council has released the June/July 2018 Senior Secondary Schools Certificate Examination results. Out of the 1,041,536 candidates who sat for the examinations, only 742,455 of the candidates got at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language. A statement signed by the acting Registrar of the Council, Abubakar Gana, states that a total number of 20,181 candidates were involved in examination malpractices — less than that of 2017.
