Mr Jimi Agbaje, the 2015 Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Wednesday ended speculations about his re-run bid, saying he was back in the race. Agbaje made the confirmation via a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos. “It is true that initially I did not want to re-contest, but I had so many people urging me to run. “I bought and submitted my nomination form shortly before it closed. I will be part of the PDP Lagos governorship primaries, billed for Friday, September 28th, “ he said. Agbaje said that he was confident he would win the elections in Lagos state, if he picked the PDP guber ticket to run. A pro-Buhari group, G-23, has said the Igbo will not repeat what it described as the mistake of 2015 when the South-East neglected a broad-based politics and supported former President Goodluck Jonathan based on regional consideration. The group regretted that the move cost the South- East politically, maintaining that the Igbo were out to support President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term so that power could be zoned to the South-East in 2023. The Convener of the South-East G-23, Johnbosco Onunkwo, while speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday, said the Buhari-led administration had performed creditably in the South-East region and the country in general and should be reelected.
